Navigating Vein Treatment Costs With Price Transparency in Oregon and Washington

At Inovia Vein Specialty Clinics, we understand that managing healthcare costs can be complex and is very important to patients.  Too often in the media we hear about confusing, opaque, or even surprise bills that arrive well after the treatment that are beyond what the patients expects.  We aim to be different by helping patients in navigating vein treatment costs with price transparency in Oregon and Washington.  That’s why we’re committed to doing our best to provide transparent pricing information for our vein treatments across our six locations in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Whether you’re seeking treatment for varicose veins, venous insufficiency, or other vein-related issues, we strive to make the financial aspect of your care as clear as possible.

Understanding Your Pricing Options

Our pricing structure generally falls into three categories:

Covered Services with Insurance:

Most insurance policies state if varicose veins are covered and this can be checked before any treatments with a pre authorization process or benefits check. For patients with commercial or government-supplied insurance (like Medicare or Medicaid), pricing is governed by our contracts with insurance carriers and the patient’s contract with their insurance company. These “allowable” prices are typically lower than list prices, but patients may have co-pays or deductibles based on their specific plan. Our dedicated staff members are available to help you navigate your insurance contract and provide good faith estimates of your out-of-pocket costs. We encourage patients to verify this information with their insurance company as well.

Non-Covered Services where the patient wants a transparent good faith estimate before treatment:

In cases where insurance considers a procedure “not a covered service,” patients can still choose to have the procedure, but will be responsible for the full cost. We provide a discounted good faith estimate (GFE) for these out-of-pocket costs in advance, allowing patients to make informed decisions.

Out-of-Network Services for patients who want treatment, but are not in our insurance network:

While we’re in-network with most insurance providers in our Oregon and Washington area, there are exceptions like Kaiser Permanente where we are not contracted. For out-of-network cases, we work with patients to provide cost estimates before any procedures are performed.

Our Commitment to Transparency

At Inovia Vein Specialty Clinics, we believe in empowering our patients with clear, upfront information about potential costs. Here’s how we attempt to go the extra mile to support this commitment:

Dedicated Staff:

We have multiple team members solely focused on helping patients understand their insurance coverage and potential out-of-pocket expenses.

Good Faith Estimates:

Whenever possible, we provide detailed estimates of expected costs before any procedures are performed. This is generally feasible before any treatments. It can be more difficult to do in a hurry, for example, when a patient is urgently referred for the diagnosis or treatment of a DVT. It can also be difficult to estimate in a hurry when one has insurance, as we have to verify with them. For procedures, which are generally done in an elective timeline, we generally have time to obtain a preauthorization and work with the payers and you to provide a good faith estimate of costs.  In either case, we will do our best to get you a good faith estimate of costs before you choose to have the service.  We endeavor to provide Good Faith Estimates for Treatment Costs for your particular treatment plan proposed.

Insurance Navigation:

We assist in submitting per-authorizations when required and encourage patients to verify information with their insurance providers.

Flexible Options:

For non-covered services, we offer discounted direct pay rates to help make treatment more accessible.

Clear Communication:

We strive to have transparent discussions about potential costs, especially for patients traveling long distances or from other countries.  Ask us for a good faith estimate (GFE) of your treatment options and we will do our best to work with you, your insurance if you have it and provide you with an estimate in good faith before treatments are carrier out.
