Traveling for Vein Treatment for SW Washington and Vancouver
The good news is that we are not hard to find and its easy to make an appointment. Patients from Vancouver can choose to simply come down I-5 and be seen at our NW Portland office, or a little further down I-5 at the Tigard, Oregon, location at Bridgeport Village. Both are close to the interstate off ramps and have ample free parking. Others may wish to come down Interstate 205 to Happy Valley, Oregon, where we have an office just off the highway off ramp. Again there is ample free parking on site.
Varicose Veins
Varicose veins occur when the valves in the leg veins become weak or damaged. This can be a result of injury (like a broken leg or getting hit with a fast ball in the calf). It can also occur in patients with some form of coagulation or blood clotting disorder. However, most cases it is just genetic (which is why we often see this runs in families). When the valves become week, the blood can pool in the lower leg veins. When this happens the pressure in the veins goes up and the veins start to stretch out. Over time we see varicose veins appear on the legs, usually starting below the knee on the inside of the calf, and eventually working their way over the foot and up the thigh. This can become painful or lead to damaged skin or ulcers.
