Dr Nicoloff:
Dr. Alexander D Nicoloff sees patients in consultation at this location for common vein problems such as varicose veins, spider veins, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and superficial vein phlebitis. Another common problem is stasis dermatitis, or venous stasis ulcers. Stasis dermatitis is a long term complication of long standing varicose veins where the ankle skin becomes brown, sometimes red and inflamed. This can lead to severe skin itching and irritation. In some cases, the skin can breakdown, leading to a venous stasis ulcer.
At our vascular laboratory on site, we can perform vascular diagnostic studies such as venous duplex ultrasound that allows us to pinpoint the problem and rapidly develop a treatment option. In some cases there can be a simple, conservative solution. In others, procedures such as Closurefast RFA or Venaseal can be offered. These procedures, with little or no down time can be carried out in the office as an outpatient. These procedure are often covered by insurance when medically indicated.
